Buchanan senior Edwin Gonzalez scored four goals in the Bears 6-2 win against Fowler on Dec. 19. Gonzalez’ stellar performance helped the Bears improve to 10-3 on the season. Buchanan also got goals from Owen Sweeten and Jett Baker in the dominating win against Fowler.
It was a bounce back win for the Bears, who lost 1-0 against Orosi in their previous match.
Buchanan took the championship in the Harold S Young tournament earlier in December. The Bears will face Roosevelt after the winter break on Jan. 3. Buchanan will then begin league play against Clovis High on Jan. 9.
The team is also staying busy off the field. The Bears recently held their 3rd annual volunteer event. Buchanan’s players and staff filled boxes of toys, bikes and Christmas trees and delivered the goods to 500 community members.
