Watch Out For The Selma Bears

Selma‘s baseball team is surging in the Tri-County Sequoia League. After putting together some gutsy wins, the Bears have skyrocketed to the top of the league. Selma, which will face Immanuel on Friday, pulled off a thrilling 11-10 win in the first game of the series on Tuesday.

The Bears trailed by six going into the sixth inning, but then cut the deficit to three before heading into the seventh. Selma tied the game in the seventh and finished the incredible comeback effort in extra innings with a walkoff from junior Braden Francis. The Selma junior went 3-for-5 in the game with a double and three RBI.

The Bears stand on top of the league with a 6-3 record. Immanuel is 4-2 while Exeter sits in third (5-3). Reedley (3-4) and Hanford West (2-8) are currently the bottom two teams.

Selma has pulled off some close wins and blowout victories. The Bears took down Reedley 9-2 and 9-0 in a two-game series. Selma lost 4-2 against Hanford West on April 9, but then bounced back to win the second game of the series 7-0. The Bears had a 9-0 win against Immanuel on April 3 and a narrow 3-2 victory against Exeter on April 8.

Although the Bears had two other losses against Hanford West and Reedley earlier in league play, they have since found their groove.
