Fresno native Corey Silverstrom has decided to come back home after his basketball season in Europe was cut short because of the coronavirus,

The former Bullard High School standout, who also starred at Chico State, was playing for Randers Cimbria in Denmark when the season had to be canceled due to the outbreak.

“We were having a historic season for the organization, most wins in a regular season at 19-5. Now the season is officially cancelled,”
the Fresno native wrote on Instagram.

According to the Enterprise-Record, Silverstrom was told to
self-quarantine for at least 14 days after coming back to the United States. Although his career has been cut short for now, the Bullard grad said he will continue to stay involved by training kids.

“When it comes to the athletes not having work, I’d just like to say don’t live in fear. Trust that everything is going to work out exactly the way it’s supposed to,” he told the Enterprise-Record. “We’re all being guided and we got to trust in that and spread love and continue to keep our heads held high, stay positive and everything will work out.”

The former Chico State player was named to the Armenian National Team in 2018.

At Bullard High School, Silverstrom led the Knights to three consecutive Valley Championships. He was named the County/Metro Athletic League MVP and Fresno Bee Co-Player of the Year as a senior. The former Knight was averaging 14 points per game, 4.2 rebounds and 2 assists in his rookie season in Denmark.

“We were gunning for that gold. My teammates, coaches, gm, owner and everyone involved in the Randers Cimbria family was special,”
Silverstrom said. “Family, health, and safety is my priority right now. What I know for sure is that God has a plan for all of this. It’ll all work out the way it’s supposed to.”
