Softball: Central Stands First In TRAC After Shutout Win Against Clovis East

Central’s softball team was clicking in all phases on Tuesday as Clovis East came to visit. Led by a strong pitching effort from senior Sara Barbosa, as well as stellar team defense and several players who excelled at the plate, the Grizzlies earned a 10-0 win against the Timberwolves.

Barbosa pitched in all five innings. She allowed five hits and struck out nine batters. Senior Bella Palma was one of the top hitters of the night. She posted three RBI with three hits and scored a run. Another one of Central’s star seniors, Frankie Galvan, added two hits and two runs with a double. Kamana Powell, also a senior, contributed with with three more runs.

The Grizzlies, who are led by an experienced group of juniors and mostly seniors, improved to 7-2 with the win against Clovis East. The team now stands first in the TRAC, ahead of Clovis North (6-3).

Central will wrap up the regular season on Friday with a trip to Clovis High.
