Mission Prep and McLane battled for 10 innings before Mission Prep pulled out an incredible 6-4 win to advance to the Division 4 Section Championship.
The Royals have been in this position many times before. The experience paid off.
“We did it on Thursday against Immanuel. Now we did it again today, 10 innings again. It’s unbelievable the fight this team has…This will be our third year in a championship game, runner up last year to Orange Cove. Hopefully we can pull it out this year,” Mission Prep coach Johnnie Martinez said.
And still a lot to be proud of for McLane.
“They fought to the last pitch. Sad to see them lose. They really worked hard this year and exceeded everyone’s expectation. Tough to watch them go down like that, but they fought hard,” McLane coach Joshua Busch said.
